Happy Wheels has now been released just as the tragic, blasphemous death of Flash approaches. That was a close call. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. We hope the worry over losing Happy Wheels hasn’t disturbed your sleep. If you weren’t aware that the game was in development, here’s some exciting news for you. As this is the game’s first public release, please bear with us as we work to fix any remaining bugs.
While I still prefer Flash, I appreciate this version’s excellent performance on mobile devices. Currently, however, there are no on-screen controls for mobile gameplay—integration of touch controls will be available in the next update. Thanks for your patience. If you’re eager to try it on your phone right now, a Bluetooth keyboard works perfectly.
Although I initially stated the game would run at 60 frames per second, some of the more challenging levels may experience noticeable slowdown at that rate. Fortunately, a setting is available to adjust performance, and I might host a dedicated 60 Hz version on a separate page for users with high-powered CPUs.
Overall, Happy Wheels JS aims to faithfully replicate the original in both design and gameplay. The database of users, levels, and replays remains intact since the initial launch. The only thing lost is the impending doom of the universe’s end.
